Due to the ‘interesting’ forensic module that I took this sem, I got a chance to meet this super inspirational character and leading forensic scientist in the world. It was like a well taken chance to understand the successful life of another. Sometimes its difficult to understand how some people can make their life so fulfilling while others simply waste them away. This is one person who simply help solve thousands of crime scenes via his application of knowledge in his field of studies. He is non other than the most respected forensic scientists – Dr Henry Lee.
He started off his life in a family with 13 kids. Imagine the pains his parents have to go through in order to raise 13 kids up. But adding on to that, these 13 kids have all made it into university. This is no doubt a feat isn’t it. Such a wonder I felt. And passion was one component that rule Dr Lee’s life. Starting off as a police, he made his way up to the position of captain at a mere age of 22. Guided by this passion, he went on to the US to pursue his forensic science degree and completed his degree in 2 years instead of 4. And slowly he made his way up – from assistant prof to associate prof and now a full prof in just 3 years! (ORH!) Gradually, he also set up his own forensic department to train future talents and police in an attempt to educate them with the latest forensic techniques which could aid in solving crimes as soon as possible. This is one life that was fully utilized to save and help the many lifes out there. It also help to change some of their lifes – going from the good to the best in the betterment of scientific technology in recent days.
How on earth could someone achieve such a result? Now i’m still at the age of setting a limit for myself to achieve in my field work and studies. When would I really set an aim for myself to achieve and set a limit of no limit so that I can excel in it? It will be great if my future lies in parallel as his. Doing work for the betterment of others and making my contributions back to society. How lovely would this be….
